Just in time for the season of giving, the MacLaren’s annual Jewellery/Fashion Show features work by many of the best jewellery artists and fashion designers in the region. On the evening of November 26, from 7 to 9 pm, meet some of the artists whose works are featured in the MacLaren Gallery Shop, talk with them about their art practices, and discuss current and future trends in jewellery fashions. Guests will be able to select their favourite pieces to try on from models wearing a variety of necklaces, pendants, bracelets and bangles.
Featured artists include: goldsmith Mary Profitt (Barrie) whose works sell through art jewellery galleries across Canada; Liz Kain (Toronto) whose sterling silver jewellery is influenced by her graphic design background; and Sandra Noble and Andrew Goss (Owen Sound) who produce refined, contemporary pieces in gold, silver and bronze.
New to this year’s show are the designs of local fashion designer Jill Strapp. Using recycled fabrics, Jill Strapp sculpts material into beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces of clothing.
Tickets are $20 and include light refreshments. Cash bar. For more information and to order tickets please contact Barb Robillard, Gallery Shop Manager, at 705-721-9696/e-mail: barb@maclarenart.com.
The MacLaren’s Gallery Shop maintains an extensive selection of jewellery ranging from fine silver and original hand-painted glass pendants, to semi-precious stones and enamels, as well as works in glass, clay, wood and textiles by local artists. The Shop is open during Gallery hours.
