General Information The aim of the MacLarenArtCentre is to encourage an awareness and understanding of visual arts and visual culture throughout Simcoe County. The MacLaren is community centred and committed to making the arts and culture experience accessible to all people. Education provides a vital link between the community and the gallery; it supports the activation of the collection and exhibitions by engaging the hearts, minds and hands of people of all ages. Art Education is about understanding and making art, but it is also so much more. The benefits that art brings to the development of key life skills include motivation, discipline, cooperation, self-esteem and self-confidence. Students who are regularly engaged in the arts become greater learners and thinkers in all areas of education. The MacLarenArtCentre provides a platform in which these skills can be explored while enhancing the Ontario Visual Arts Curriculum both in our gallery and in the classroom.
